Who knew something as simple as blowing bubbles could be a mini science lesson? Mrs. VanCleave's students explored surface tension, air pressure, light, chemistry, and geometry all through bubbles!
From the way bubbles form to the colorful reflections we see, there is a LOT of science happening inside those little spheres. Learning science can be hands-on, fun, and sometimes even a little bubbly!

REMINDER: If your 7th–12th grade student plans to participate in sports, please submit their completed sports physical by 3:00 PM on August 14, 2026. Physicals submitted after this deadline may not be processed in time for the student to be cleared for practice on August 17, 2026.

Yesterday, we welcomed our 6th graders to Orientation, and they were absolutely locked in.
They met their teachers, checked out their classrooms, got to know their new classmates, learned the ins and outs of a typical school day, practiced those locker skills, and got familiar with the routines.
Basically, they got the full middle school starter pack.

Please submit a completed sports physical to the CMS Office no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, August 14.
Fall sports practices begin Monday, August 17. Students must have a current sports physical on file with the school before they can participate in practice.

School Supplies for the 2026-2027 school year
Returning student online enrollment is NOW OPEN!
Access the form by logging into Skyward Q and clicking on the Returning Family Registration 2026-27 “tile” as circled in red in the attached image. If you have trouble logging in, please contact our USD 204 District Office at 913.422.5600 to resolve any issues.
To submit the enrollment form, you will need proof of residency. A water, gas, or electric bill (PDF or image) is required for form submission. (The water, gas, or electric bill will need to include the legal parent/guardian’s name and address in the image or PDF.)
This year’s enrollment form can also be filled out on a phone or tablet using the Skyward Mobile Access app! Please note that students must be enrolled in Skyward Q in order to see their teacher or view their class schedule before the start of school.
While in Skyward Q, you can fill out the online application for free and reduced-price school meals, and please make sure that you sign the "Consent for Disclosure" on the last step if you wish for discounts to be considered for school fees, as well.
The first day of school this year is August 13th! Schedules/teachers will be posted on August 11th at 3:00 p.m. on Family and Student Access.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the District Office until office staff returns to the school buildings on July 27th.

During our 7th Grade Amazing Race Tallest Tower Challenge, students earned 2 note cards and 6 inches of tape for every correct math challenge question they completed. With only 10 minutes to plan, design, and build, this group demonstrated impressive teamwork and creativity by constructing a 24-inch freestanding tower!

ART CLUB FIELD TRIP RECAP!
Our Art Club creators took a deep dive into the world of texture, color, and sensory art today at the Rainbow Slime Company!
From the moment we walked in, inspiration was everywhere. Our talented students got to:
Explore the Interactive Slime Exhibit: A total sensory playground filled with giant slime installations, satisfying ASMR stations, and vibrant, glowing colors. It was an incredible look at how art, science, and play connect!
Visit the Slime Lab: Every student stepped up to the creation station to design, mix, and customize their very own personal slime. From choosing the perfect scent and color palette to adding glitter and charms, they brought their unique artistic visions to life.
The best part? Everyone got to pack up their custom creations to take home! Let’s just say the bus ride back was very stretchy and colorful.
