ART CLUB FIELD TRIP RECAP!

Our Art Club creators took a deep dive into the world of texture, color, and sensory art today at the Rainbow Slime Company!

From the moment we walked in, inspiration was everywhere. Our talented students got to:

Explore the Interactive Slime Exhibit: A total sensory playground filled with giant slime installations, satisfying ASMR stations, and vibrant, glowing colors. It was an incredible look at how art, science, and play connect!

Visit the Slime Lab: Every student stepped up to the creation station to design, mix, and customize their very own personal slime. From choosing the perfect scent and color palette to adding glitter and charms, they brought their unique artistic visions to life.

The best part? Everyone got to pack up their custom creations to take home! Let’s just say the bus ride back was very stretchy and colorful.

A huge thank you to Rainbow Slime Company for hosting us and inspiring our young artists to think outside the canvas. Check out some of our favorite moments from the day below!

WOW! In just 3 months, CMS students read an incredible 324 books totaling more than 95,000 pages — and we more than doubled our readers and participants! That is an amazing accomplishment!
Our top readers were Loralei Hurd, Ava Ledgerwood, and taking the top spot with an impressive 13,280 pages read, Caroline Shald!

We also had an outstanding group of graphic novel readers. Dante Everette earned 3rd place, and there was a very close race for 1st place — Christian Sweet read 27 books, while Roxanne Lowe finished on top with an incredible 30 books read in just 3 months!

We hope you enjoyed the books! Keep reading and have a wonderful summer!

Our FCCLA students had an incredible experience visiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities this week! ❤️🏠

After collecting pop tabs to support families staying at the house, students had the opportunity to donate them in person and tour the entire facility. Seeing firsthand how the house provides comfort, care, and a home-away-from-home for families with hospitalized children made this experience even more meaningful.

We are so proud of our students for giving back to the community and representing our school so well! #FCCLA #ServiceLeadership #RonaldMcDonaldHouse #CommunityMatters

The CMS Battle of the Books teams traveled to Emporia this past Friday to compete in the state competition. They have worked hard all year, reading the books from the William Allen White Award list to prepare for the competition. The CMS Tap Dancing Rabbits took 2nd place! All teams did a great job.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, our staff added some extra fun with “secret underground spirit days” throughout the week! Students were curious and excited as teachers showed up participating in surprise themed days without any announcements. Staff members represented their grade levels with coordinated colors, got creative for “Anything But a Cup” day, stayed cozy during Pajama Day, traveled back in time for Throwback Thursday, and wrapped up the fun in athletic wear. The mystery and enthusiasm brought lots of smiles, laughter, and community spirit to our building all week long!

Congratulations to Debbie Elmer, Transportation Director, who was named the Bonner Springs Edwardsville Area Chamber of Commerce Staff Member of the Month at yesterday's luncheon!

Each month, the Chamber recognizes a teacher for their outstanding service, but this month, they recognized an integral part of our school district - our Transportation Director, Debbie Elmer.

Mrs. Elmer has demonstrated a passion for the students and the district she serves for the last 41 years!

Over the last 41 years, Mrs. Debbie Elmer has exemplified excellence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our school district as a bus driver and then eventually as Director of Transportation. Through changing times and numerous challenges, her leadership has ensured the safe and reliable transportation of literally GENERATIONS of students.

Debbie’s professionalism, knowledge of all things transportation, and tireless dedication to USD 204 has set a high standard - not only for our district, but for the profession itself! It’s no exaggeration to say she’s been the best at what she does, and we are incredibly fortunate to have benefitted from her dedication for so many years.

Mrs. Elmer will be retiring at the end of June, and we want to wish her all the best. Congratulations, Debbie Elmer, USD 204 Transportation Director, on being recognized as the May Chamber of Commerce School Staff Member of the Month!

We are proud to honor Rhonda Rush as Clark Middle School’s Substitute Teacher of the Year! She was also chosen as the District Substitute Teacher of the Year! We have truly enjoyed having Rhonda in our building this school year.

Rhonda has been especially helpful while working in our Working Braves classroom. She consistently goes above and beyond to support both students and staff with patience, kindness, and flexibility. She builds positive relationships with students, creates a calm and encouraging environment, and is always willing to step in wherever she is needed. Her dedication, compassion, and strong work ethic have made a lasting impact on our school community, and we are so grateful for the care and support she provides
