Congratulations to our January students of the month! These students demonstrated the BRAVE character trait of BELIEVE.


Due to the incoming weather on Thursday, we have decided to cancel the school dance on Thursday, February 13th. Stay tuned for the rescheduled date!


CMS Red Friday!











Mrs. Snyder's ELA class playing a game using vocabulary words from their book, A Long Walk to Water. Students had to match the picture to the definition. Then they worked together to unscramble the letter tiles to spell the word. The kids did a great job and they had a great time!









On Wednesday, February 5, the CMS Scholar Bowl team competed at the Paola tournament against 10 other teams. The 8 person team consisted of 6 -eighth graders and 2-seventh graders. They answered questions about Science, English, Social Studies and other subjects to end up with a record 6-4 and a 5th place finish for the first tournament. Next competition is February 18th at Ottawa.






We will be on a two-hour delayed start today, February 5th, due to morning road conditions.
On the adjusted schedule, elementary schools will start at 10:30 AM, while secondary schools (CMS & BSHS) will begin at 9:45 AM.
At McDaniel Preschool Center, there will be no AM half-day classes, with full-day classes starting at 10:15 AM, and PM half-day classes following their normal schedule.
Head Start will also begin at 10:15 AM.
Buses will run two hours late, and breakfast will not be served.
Y Care will not operate during morning programs, but will run in the afternoon.

Super Bowl Spirit Week!


This is the last week for the CMS Student Council canned food drive for Vaughn-Trent Community Services! The food will be collected until this Friday, February 7th. Students should drop off all donations in their Advisory classroom. The Student Council will be tracking the amount of donations in each Advisory and the class with the most donations in each grade level wins a doughnut party! The following items are needed: cans of soup, cans of chili, cans of Chef Boyardee style foods, and boxes of crackers to go with the soup. Sixth grade is reading A Long Walk to Water in ELA and studying Africa in Social Studies. As they come to the library this week, we are rotating different stations and using books and experiments to learn more about refugees, water (and the lack thereof), and Africa.

Clark Middle School recently hosted a Spelling Bee where all participants worked hard and showed great sportsmanship!
